Shopping for school supplies?

It happens at the end of each summer break… we head to Staples and Target and Walmart, buying up every last school supply we can think of: binders, ruled paper, composition books, glue sticks, sticky notes, colored pencils, you name it. And then school starts, and my daughter comes home with a list of exactly what each teacher wants her to have. School supply shopping round two, here we come!

If you’re like me, you’ll likely be out shopping this weekend. You may even be doing it online. If you are, please consider getting something for the West Philadelphia Alliance for Children from our school supplies wish list, and pair it with a book for our libraries. We also have an Amazon wish list with book titles we’d love to have.

School supplies are used in our libraries throughout the year for student projects that tie into our literacy activities. In terms of books, there are popular books and topics we always want, but this year we’d especially like to add to our collection of books featuring black main characters and heroes. Our school supplies and book Amazon wish lists show you just what we’re looking for.

If you do decide to shop on Amazon, whether for this or your personal shopping, please consider using Amazon Smile. You get the same shopping experience as on the regular Amazon site, but a portion of what you spend gets donated to charity. You can choose the charity, and we hope you’ll consider choosing the West Philadelphia Alliance for Children. Just go to smile.amazon.com each time you shop, and be sure to select the charity of your choice.

Happy shopping, and thank you for considering the West Philadelphia Alliance for Children when you do. And have a great Labor Day holiday!

Best,

Heather
