David W. Brown, Executive Director
PHILADELPHIA, PA, July 2, 2014 – WePAC’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce that David W. Brown has been named the organization’s Executive Director.
Brown, a published author, columnist and veteran executive of the communications industry, will lead WePAC in its development and positioning efforts throughout the region. “I am extremely honored to serve as Executive Director of WePAC at such a critical time in the educational future of our city’s children,” Brown said. “With the challenges that face our public schools, WePAC’s ability to attract dedicated volunteers and contributed resources can make a real difference in strengthening literacy in our children by providing access to libraries and reading resources that had been unavailable to them.”
A graduate of Duquesne University, Brown received his Masters of Theology degree from Palmer Theological Seminary. His extensive communications background includes having established BrownPartners (one of the most decorated minority-owned advertising agencies in the city’s history); General Manager of 900 AM WURD (Pennsylvania’s only black-owned talk radio station); and as an ordained Reverend with the United Methodist Church serving as a member of the ministry staff at Arch Street United Methodist Church.

In addition to naming Brown as Executive Director, WePAC also elected new board leadership at its June meeting. Keith J. Richardson, Managing Director of the Philadelphia Housing Authority Development Corporation (PHADC), was named WePAC Board President; Ruth Brader, a retired executive from Wells Fargo & Company’s legal division, was named Board Vice President; Siobhan A. Reardon, President and Director of the Free Library of Philadelphia, was re-elected as Board Secretary; Heather Farber, Senior Director, Communications & Affinity Partnerships for the Northeast Retail Division of NRG Energy, was elected Board Treasurer; and Stephen Mygatt, Esquire was named to the newly created position of Immediate Past President.
Established in 2003 as an urban-suburban partnership between Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church and the West Philadelphia community, WePAC currently operates 12 public elementary school libraries for some 5,000 students, circulating thousands of books to children each week throughout the school year.
